The Technology Intern will work with infrastructure and platform engineering teams on meaningful projects involving enterprise technology platforms, automation, infrastructure as code, observability, and IT service management.
Responsibilities
As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development
You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program
Technology interns are fully integrated into engineering and technology teams, contributing to real financial solutions
Hands-on experience designing, configuring, automating, and supporting enterprise technology platforms across cloud, network, database, operating system, and middleware environments while working alongside experienced infrastructure and platform engineering teams
Contribute to scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions through infrastructure as code, automation, observability, and IT service management practices, while building a strong foundation in enterprise infrastructure, architecture, governance, and technology strategy
Some automation via coding, whether simple OS shell scripting, low code automations or other form
The use or development of some generative AI capabilities
Qualification
Required
You are pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Systems or specialization in Information Technology or related major at an accredited college/university with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028
You have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
You have good verbal and written communication skills
You are curious about financial markets and interested in learning more about the financial services industry
You have proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience
You have demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular
