Software Engineering Intern Summer 2027

MiniMed is a full-stack insulin delivery company dedicated to supporting people living with diabetes through intelligent dosing systems, predictive insights, and ongoing support. The Software Engineering Intern will contribute to experienced teams across software development, cloud, quality, DevOps, systems, testing, firmware, AI, and data science while gaining hands-on experience during a full-time summer internship.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and implements operating system components, software tools, and utilities
  • Determines systems software design requirements
  • Supports development and execution of the organization’s cloud strategy from a technical perspective, including design, planning, integration, maintenance, and support of cloud architecture
  • Works with stakeholders to evaluate cloud systems and identify appropriate solutions
  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures
  • Evaluates software systems activities including requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification, and validation
  • Introduces and maintains processes, tools, and methodologies that support the software development life cycle
  • Conducts requirements gathering and analysis to understand the software domain, hardware and software interfaces, and overall software characteristics
  • Develops software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, cloud-based tools, and Internet-related tools
  • Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products
  • Tests the functionality and performance of software applications or systems software
  • Develops and executes test plans and scripts designed to detect problems in software applications and systems software
  • Develops and programs integrated software algorithms to structure, analyze, and leverage data in product and system applications
  • Develops and communicates descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive insights or algorithms

Qualification

Required

  • * Working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering major with an anticipated graduation date of Winter 2027, Spring 2028, Winter 2028, or Spring 2029
  • * Ability to participate full time, 40 hours per week, as part of the intern cohort from June 1-August 13 for semester system programs or June 14-August 20 for quarter system programs
  • * Applicants for MiniMed's Summer Internship Program must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Medtronic does not sponsor work authorization for internship positions. Individuals on temporary visa classifications, including E, F‑1 (CPT or OPT), H‑1, H‑2, L, B, J, or TN, as well as anyone who requires employment sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible for MiniMed's Summer Internship Program

Preferred

  • * A minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • * Experience with one or more programming languages or technical tools, such as C, C++, C#/.NET, SQL, JavaScript, Java, Python, Swift, HTML/CSS, Microsoft Visual Studio, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools
  • * Academic project, internship, research, lab, or work experience related to software development, testing, automation, DevOps, cloud, firmware, systems engineering, AI, data science, or software quality
  • * Experience using version control, debugging tools, test documentation, requirements gathering, or software development lifecycle processes
  • * Experience creating technical documentation, project summaries, test reports, code documentation, or engineering presentations
