The Software Engineering Intern will contribute to software performance-tuning applications for MIPS RISC-V microprocessors through feature development, simulation and modeling, testing, debugging, documentation, tooling improvements, and technical collaboration.
Responsibilities
Contribute to well-scoped software features, prototypes, tests, automation, and tooling improvements under the guidance of experienced engineers
Learn how the application supports software performance tuning for MIPS RISC-V microprocessors, including front-end workflows, back-end simulation concepts, and data visualization
Assist with debugging, testing, documentation, and enhancements that improve product quality, usability, and developer productivity
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, team meetings, and technical demonstrations, and present project progress and outcomes to mentors and team members
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Qualification
Required
Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship
Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing
Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship
Preferred
Prior related internship or co-op experience
Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc
Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making
Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning & organizational skills
Strong programming fundamentals developed through coursework, labs, personal projects, open-source contributions, internships, or research
Interest in developer tools, application frameworks, data visualization, computer architecture, RISC-V, simulation, performance tuning, compilers, operating systems, or low-level software systems
