Software Engineering Intern (Spring/Summer 2027)

Teleflex is a global provider of medical technologies focused on improving healthcare and patient outcomes. The Software Engineering Intern will support the design, development, testing, and sustainment of connected medical device software for vascular positioning and navigation systems, including AI/ML, application, and embedded software. The role also involves documentation, troubleshooting, Agile/Scrum collaboration, and presenting technical progress.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and testing of software for connected medical device systems, gaining exposure to both the sustainment of the current Rhythm DLX Navigation system and development of our next-generation navigation platform
  • Write, debug, and unit test software code in C++ and/or C# within embedded and/or application software environments, under the guidance of senior software engineers
  • Assist with software design control documentation, including requirements, traceability, risk mitigations, verification & validation (V&V) protocols, and test reports
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and cross-functional design discussions within an Agile/Scrum software development framework
  • Investigate and help troubleshoot software defects, working with the team to identify root cause and implement solutions
  • Explore applications of AI/ML concepts and AI-based development tools on real engineering problems, where applicable to the assigned project
  • Document work performed and present progress and findings to the software team and stakeholders
  • Comply with Teleflex’s code of Ethics, the company’s Quality System, and all company policies, rules, and housekeeping standards

Qualification

Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least one academic term remaining after the internship to support a full-time conversion upon graduation
  • Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#, gained through coursework or project experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate requirements into working software
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Genuine interest in medical device software, with the intent to pursue a full-time software engineering role following graduation
  • Expected Travel: None

Preferred

  • Prior coursework, academic projects, or internship experience in software development preferred; exposure to embedded systems, medical devices, or another regulated industry is a plus but not required
  • Exposure to embedded systems and/or Linux-based development environments preferred
  • Coursework or project experience involving artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with AI-based software development tools preferred
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle concepts and Agile/Scrum methodology preferred
  • Exposure to medical device or other regulated software development (e.g., design controls, verification & validation) a plus, but not required
