Software Engineering Intern (On-site)

RTX is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, seeking an intern to join their Software Engineering team. The selected candidate will work on software development and integration, ensuring the proper operation of hardware and software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a software developer and integrator as part of a development team which utilizes a dynamic workforce, including many experts in their fields. Specific duties include:
  • Responsible for performing development, integration, test and documentation duties to ensure proper operation of hardware and software platforms
  • Integrate a wide variety of applications from various sources, integrate and ensure they meet performance standards for stability and utilization
  • Develop software as necessary to integrate between components, perform new capabilities, to facilitate testing, etc
  • Adhere to accepted standards for development, including writing unit tests which provide a high percentage of code overage, participating in code peer reviews, conducting design reviews, and generating test plans to ensure maximum stability and quality of code

Qualification

Required

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field and will be at minimum Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post Grad year by summer 2027
  • Software development experience with Java in a Unix/Linux environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and familiarity with a Javascript framework such as AngularJS or VueJS
  • Familiarity with version control software such as GIT
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Maven or GITLAB
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile development practices
