The Software Engineering Co-op will contribute to software-defined tactical radio platforms, networking solutions, and cryptographic systems while gaining hands-on experience with embedded systems and modern development tools. The role involves collaborating across the software development lifecycle and supporting new software initiatives.
Responsibilities
Engage as a part of a team developing embedded software, networking and communication products using C/C++, Python, and Rust
Support project success by collaborating with others across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, test development, and verification)
Participate in new software initiatives and work as a part of a collaborative team: supporting each other and helping to make decisions that impact the overall cost, schedule, and technical performance of your team
Qualification
Required
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session
Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
Preferred
Active U.S. Department of Defense Clearance or the ability to obtain one
Some experience with C/C++, Rust, or Python programming languages
Some experience with Git or other version control systems
Familiarity with embedded software development
Familiarity with Linux development environments
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
