RTX is an aerospace and defense company developing advanced avionics and mission systems. The Software Engineering Co-op will design, develop, and maintain flight-critical embedded software while working with embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interfaces, and simulation environments. The role also involves requirements definition, feature implementation, testing, verification, and certification-ready documentation.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain flight‑critical embedded software for next‑generation aviation and mission solutions
Work hands-on with embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interfaces, and simulation environments
Build high‑integrity systems that meet rigorous safety, reliability, and airworthiness standards
Define requirements, implement features, develop test procedures, perform verification activities, and produce certification-ready artifacts
Qualification
Required
Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session
Must have a minimum of 90 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
Strong development experience with C and C++
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company's immigration sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
Collaboration skills for working across engineering teams on design and implementation
Clear and effective written and verbal communication
