Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

RTX is an aerospace and defense company developing software and firmware for complex systems including missiles, radars, naval systems, and fire control. The Software Engineer Intern will assist with requirements, design, development, testing, integration, documentation, and review of software solutions while collaborating with engineering professionals on agile teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of application software, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems
  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products

Qualification

Required

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively ++enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Experience with C, C++, or Java

Preferred

  • Knowledge of C/C++ programming, structured programming concepts
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and Unified Model Language
  • Knowledge of statistical and numerical methods
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and leaders in a team environment
