The Software Development Engineer Intern will work with an Agile development team to design, develop, and test software applications and components using C++ in a Linux environment, contributing to user interfaces, algorithms, and back-end data handling for the Opal Mapping System.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and unit test software applications using C++ in a Linux environment
Participate in Agile scrum teams to coordinate development of new features and resolve technical issues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development and testing, across all phases of the development lifecycle
Contribute to user interface, algorithm development, and back-end data handling components
Apply problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions
Engage in continuous learning and development through mentorship and hands-on experience
Qualification
Required
* Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate level degree majoring in Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with an expected graduation date in fall/winter 2027 or spring 2028
* Proficiency skills in programming using C, C++, or Rust
* Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
* Available to participate for the full duration of the intern program from May 17th- August 6th OR May 24th- August 13th, 2027
* Eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
* Have reliable transportation to and from 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. Boston Scientific does not provide transportation or transportation support to and from its locations
Preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with documentation and report writing
* Knowledge of systems-level programming, Linux, and QT
* High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
* Demonstrated ability to learn complex software and quickly adapt to new tools and technologies
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
