R&D Software/ Firmware Engineer Intern

The R&D Software Engineering Intern will assist in the design and development of Capital Equipment used in various medical applications, collaborating with engineering teams to develop software solutions and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop software solutions as well as tools that support medical device Capital Equipment development
  • Contribute to embedded firmware and Software design and implementation for various capital Equipment projects
  • Develop and maintain software using C++, C#, and Python to support diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment workflows
  • Take initiative in identifying and solving technical challenges related to device functionality, data flow, and system integration
  • Ensure engineering solutions align with clinical needs, regulatory standards, and patient safety requirements
  • Participate in Agile development processes

Qualification

Required

  • Must graduate between Dec 2026 - May 2028
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or Master's degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (with software skills)
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Must be able to commit to one of the following full-time internship periods (12 weeks, 40 hours per week): May 18 – August 7 or May 26 – August 14
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from the Arden Hills, MN Boston Scientific corporate work location. Boston Scientific is not responsible for employees' transportation to/from work

Preferred

  • Medical industry experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions
  • Experience with Python, C++, and C#
  • Experience with embedded firmware in school or work projects
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies
