R&D Software Engineer Intern

Boston Scientific is a company that focuses on designing and developing implant products for the Active Implantable Systems group. The R&D Software Engineer Intern will work with the software testing team to create a new test framework for Android applications and contribute to ensuring software reliability and compliance with clinical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the SW testing team to design and develop a new test framework for Android platform Application testing
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python or Kotlin, leveraging frameworks such as UIAutomation, UIAutomation2, and Appium
  • Support validation efforts by replicating real-world device usage scenarios within the Android OS environment
  • Contribute to testing-related projects that ensure software reliability, performance, and compliance with clinical requirements
  • Engage cross-functionally with engineering and clinical teams to understand device behavior and improve test coverage

Qualification

Required

  • Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), graduating senior (May 2026 grad) continuing on to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Must be able to start internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work
  • Experience using programming languages such as Python or Kotlin
  • Familiarity using Android-Based Test Frameworks such as UIAutomation, UIAutomation2, and Appium
  • Experience with testing-related projects in school or work

Preferred

  • Medical industry experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions
  • Demonstrated technical skills
