CalAmp is a telematics pioneer leading transformation in a global connected economy. The CalAmp Firmware Engineering Intern will help design, code, and document CalAmp telematics equipment, working on software modifications and improvements to IoT devices with specific supervision.
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in the development of firmware and applications using programming languages such as Python, Perl, and C/C++ Interfaces with other members of the software development team, test engineers and field engineers. Individual is expected to work with a minimum of supervision towards a stated goal
Participate in firmware and applications development projects
Maintain and support existing software
Develop Unit and Acceptance Tests, and assist in documenting clear, concise and thorough test procedures to support verification that the software satisfies all product requirements
Create and maintain project schedules and report on project status, activities and issues
Ensure software developed satisfies CalAmp’s quality standards, and is implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Will be local to the area in Summer 2025
Completed or in progress towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
C/C++ programming knowledge
Python, Perl and JavaScript programming knowledge
Solid understanding of network communications and protocols (such as TCP/IP and BSD sockets)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical and strong problem-solving skills
Willingness and desire to be a team player
Preferred
Experience working with Raspberry Pi, wi-fi, and BLE protocols
