The Walt Disney Company is seeking an HRIS Developer Intern to join their HRIS Infrastructure team within Global HR Operations. This internship will involve supporting the development of secure HR platforms and ensuring data integrity across enterprise HR systems, working closely with various teams to deliver compliant solutions.
Responsibilities
Execute data validation and audit checks to keep Workday, SAP, and downstream integrations aligned; investigate discrepancies and support fixes under mentorship.
Support integration and application testing for enhancements, fixes, and releases; create test scenarios, document results, and log issues for resolution.
Build and maintain lightweight queries or scripts to automate repeatable tasks that enhance team throughput, adhering to GHRO and IT standards.
Create user-facing materials, such as job aids, how-to guides, and process communications, that enable self-service and facilitate change adoption.
Partner with HRIS, Org Management, and regional GHRO teams to triage issues, capture requirements, and support delivery through GHRO’s regional service model.
Help protect data privacy and access by adhering to security and compliance controls; assist with basic access and audit readiness tasks as directed.
Qualification
Required
Comfortable working with relational databases and SQL in practical scenarios: write queries to select, filter, aggregate, and join data across multiple tables; interpret simple ERDs; define primary/foreign keys and fundamental constraints.
Experience using one or more programming languages (for example, C#, Python, or JavaScript) to solve problems or automate tasks; understanding of core object‑oriented concepts.
Exposure to web or API fundamentals: HTTP methods, REST, JSON; ability to read an API spec and make basic requests using a tool like Postman or a simple script.
Familiarity with data integration/ETL concepts; ability to read or design simple data mappings.
Strong analytical and debugging skills with close attention to data accuracy and edge cases.
Clear written communication: able to document steps, results, and recommendations for technical and non‑technical partners.
Interest in HR technology and data privacy; willingness to follow established security and compliance practices.
Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field.
By the internship start date, successful completion of: An Intro to Databases or Database Systems course that covers relational modeling, keys and constraints, ER diagrams, and SQL for selection, filtering, aggregation, and joins.
By the internship start date, successful completion of: A two‑course programming sequence (for example, CS I and CS II) covering object‑oriented programming in C#, Python, Java, or similar.
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements: Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program.

Preferred
Intermediate SQL proficiency: multi‑table joins, subqueries/CTEs, window functions, set operations; understanding of normalization vs. denormalization; awareness of indexing and basic query performance considerations; comfort with transactions and constraints.
Coursework or project experience building or contributing to web applications using ASP.NET/C# or Python (Flask/Django), or front‑end frameworks (React/Angular); exposure to unit testing and secure coding basics.
Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows (branches and pull requests).
Awareness of cloud fundamentals (Azure or AWS) and how apps use managed databases, storage, and identity.
Exposure to enterprise HR systems (Workday, SAP) or interest in the HRIS domain.
Preferred completion: Additional coursework in one or more of the following: Advanced Databases or SQL, Data Modeling and Normalization, Web Application Development (for example, ASP.NET/C#, Flask/Django, HTML5/JavaScript), APIs and Web Services, Software Engineering, or Cloud Fundamentals.
Preferred completion: Coursework or labs using a major RDBMS such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
