Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. They are seeking a part-time Application Center Engineer Intern to engage in applications engineering for discrete manufacturing systems and support senior applications engineers with various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging in a wide range of functions related to applications engineering for discrete manufacturing systems
  • Directly contributing to business outcomes for Siemens industrial automation and digitalization products
  • Supporting senior applications engineers with projects, including but limited to:
  • Assisting with ongoing customer projects (such as debugging, improving, and documenting customer programs or developing proof of concept specification systems)
  • Documenting technical processes for training internal and external stakeholders
  • Upgrading demo equipment or creating demos for new products and features
  • Creating and expanding on technical and marketing collateral

Qualification

Required

  • Bachelors or Masters students: Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Technology, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering/Technology (must be enrolled at the time of the internship).
  • Ability to work part-time during the work week Monday – Friday.
  • Technical expertise in automation, drives, and PLC-based motion control.
  • Proficiency in programming across environments such as PLCs, Python, C/C++, Java, or web development.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement mindset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Acute attention to detail, highly organized, self-motivated, and dedicated to quality and excellence.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Experience with control systems, Ethernet networking, windows app development, power electronics, mechanical statics/dynamics and/or software simulation in an industrial automation setting.
