They are seeking a motivated Technology Intern to support AI, Automation, and Microsoft 365 initiatives, contributing to a Strategic AI Project that leverages data to identify patients for life-changing therapies.
Responsibilities
Assist in the configuration, customization, and support of Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
Support the development and maintenance of SharePoint sites, lists, and permissions to improve cross-functional collaboration
Partner with IT and business teams to identify and document opportunities for efficiency improvements using modern workplace tools
Build and enhance automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline data movement and business processes
Develop and maintain basic Python scripts and SQL queries for data processing, system integration, and automation tasks
Explore and apply Generative AI use cases (e.g., ChatGPT) to increase team productivity and technical documentation efficiency
Utilize Databricks and Databricks Genie to perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on healthcare datasets to uncover patient trends and patterns
Translate complex predictive model outputs into actionable business stories by building Power BI dashboards and reports
Assist in visualizing and documenting model drivers (such as SHAP values) to help business partners understand and trust AI-driven predictions
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related technical field
Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 and a strong interest in learning the Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI)
Introductory experience with Python or SQL (ability to read, write, or edit basic scripts and queries)
Strong problem-solving skills and a curiosity for how AI and Data Science solve real-world healthcare challenges
Good documentation skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business partners
MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate and/or Graduate Degree Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship
MUST be able to begin internship between 6/8 and 8/14/2026
MUST be able and willing to remain in program through at least 8/14/2026
MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour work week
Preferred
Experience with Databricks or other cloud-based data platforms
Exposure to SharePoint site design or governance
Prior experience building low-code flows or personal technical/coding projects
