Safran is seeking a Software Product Development Intern to join its Research and Technology team. The intern will develop software and AI solutions for engineers, contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Optimization tools for landing gear design, and gain hands-on experience with data pipelines, backend AI models, front-end development, and cloud deployment.
Responsibilities
Within the Research and Technology team, the student will work as a developer on a fast-paced team to help develop software for other engineers in the company
This position focuses on creating AI solutions to help engineers in decision-making and to streamline the design process
There will also be opportunities to contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) tools, which support early-stage landing gear design
The student will be involved in the design, debugging, and development of data pipelines, backend AI models, as well as front-end web development
Other duties may be assigned as per management instruction
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a bachelor's in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
Familiarity with programming in Python and JavaScript
Basic understanding of the AWS cloud platform (e.g., S3, EC2, or Lambda), or a strong interest in learning
Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) or relevant libraries
Comfortable using Git or another version control system
Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and ability to work both independently and in a team
Candidates should be in strong and competitive academic standing

Minimum age of 18 years. Canadian Controlled Goods Regulations (CGR), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances and applicable contractual obligations
Preferred
Experience with AWS services beyond the basics (e.g., SageMaker, OpenSearch) through projects or coursework
A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of past coding projects
Previous experience in student teams, hackathons, or collaborative projects
Exposure to front-end development concepts (experience with a modern framework such as React or Vue.js is an asset)
Experience with CI/CD workflows (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar) is an asset
