Gap is an iconic American brand focused on optimistic style and customer experience. They are seeking a Merchandising Intern to support merchant teams, participate in key projects, and gain exposure to the merchant role within a global retail organization.
Responsibilities
Support merchant teams in key projects throughout the summer, and actively participate in presentations to senior leadership based on findings
Monitor trend reporting, social channels, blogs, and magazines to identify trends based on category and project needs
Create mood/inspiration boards with imagery and product references to support project presentations and category needs
Shop the competition online and in stores to collect data points on a variety of business needs by category. These needs include data on price points, customer trends, style count in store and online, promotional activity, customer profiles and target customer, flow strategies, and product performance
Maintain, create, and understand weekly and monthly reports and tools used by merchant teams to understand category performance and participate in conversations and ideas to support the business
Collaborate cross-functionally with key business partners to achieve goals
Support in preparing presentations and meeting content for leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in progress
Must be in your Junior academic year graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027
Ability to work Monday – Friday from mid-June to mid-August
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities to identify patterns, build strategy and drive results
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn technical applications, terminology, and processes quickly
Passion for retail with a strong trend point of view and customer obsession. Retail experience preferred but not required
Ability to share information to an audience with effective oral and written communication utilizing various forms of media (PowerPoint, Pinterest, mood/inspiration boards)
Attention to detail and the ability to work with raw data to understand customer priorities
Self-starter attitude with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Strong intellectual curiosity and a willingness to seek out new ways of learning in complex situations

Retail experience preferred but not required
