Arevon is a U.S. energy leader that develops, finances, builds, owns, and operates renewable energy projects, with a focus on utility-scale solar and energy storage. The Data Science Intern will support the Interconnection and Transmission teams by collecting, organizing, validating, transforming, and automating data processes related to electric grid interconnection queues, transmission projects, and operational analytics.
Map Eastern Interconnection (EI) and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) Generation Interconnection Queues (GIQ) and transmission projects to raw source files
Aggregate, map and process regional ISO/RTO queue filings, tracking project statuses (e.g., active, under study, withdrawn, operational) and Interconnection customer data
Develop a change-set tracker to monitor changes in transmission object characteristics - Line Status, impedance, voltage Magnitude, Bus Angle, etc.- between various study cases
Assist in automating data extraction, web scraping, mapping, change-detection processes across all core interconnection projects
Extract, update and validate electrical topology, system study cases and GIQ data
Parse regional queue applications, commercial operation dates, capacity values, resource types (solar, wind, storage, thermal) to maintain a unified data pipeline
Identify opportunities to automate data ingestion from grid operator portals (e.g., PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, ERCOT) and improve workflow efficiency. Maintain a systematic repository of data issues, study case mismatches, queue record discrepancies assisting in their resolution
Maintain and query backend databases that feed key operational dashboards, interconnection cost models and transmission analytics
