The R&D Software Design Intern will design and implement software features for medical device prototypes and collaborate with engineering and clinical teams to optimize device performance and user experience.
Responsibilities
Design and implement software features for medical device prototypes using Java as the primary development language, with additional contributions in Kotlin, C++, and JavaScript as needed.
Support mobile and embedded development on Android OS and Linux, helping to optimize performance, reliability, and user experience in clinical environments.
Collaborate with engineering and clinical teams to translate procedural insights into software requirements, including viewing live and recorded procedures to inform design decisions.
Assist in developing and validating test methods that replicate real-world device usage, integrating clinical feedback into iterative software improvements.
Contribute to data analysis efforts by working with clinical datasets to identify patterns and inform device behavior, interface logic, and procedural support tools.
Qualification
Required
Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), graduating senior (May 2026 grad) continuing on to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify.
Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Must be able to start internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks
Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
