Mapfre is a leading global insurance company seeking a motivated college student to join its Financial Systems Data Integrity team for a 10-week summer internship. The intern will support the modernization of a Microsoft Access-based process by analyzing workflows, assisting with data migration and validation, developing database solutions, and contributing to process improvement and AI technology research.
Responsibilities
Assist in the analysis and documentation of existing business processes and workflows currently supported through Microsoft Access databases
Support the migration of data and reporting processes to a more streamlined and scalable database environment
Develop and execute data validation procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity throughout the migration process
Create and optimize SQL queries to support data analysis, reporting, and testing activities
Work with Snowflake or other database technologies to support data transformation and reporting requirements
Collaborate with finance stakeholders to identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency improvements
Research and evaluate AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies that may enhance productivity, data analysis, and process effectiveness
Assist in documenting business requirements, technical specifications, and process workflows
Prepare analytical summaries and present project findings, recommendations, and progress updates to team members and leadership
Participate in networking, training, and professional development activities offered through the MAPFRE Summer Internship Program
Qualification
Required
• Current enrollment in Bachelor's degree program (Rising Junior or Senior) OR current enrollment in a Master's degree program with the following areas of focus: Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information systems or related field
• Fundamental understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts
• Experience with SQL for querying, analyzing, and validating data
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred
• Experience with Snowflake or other relational database platforms
• Familiarity with data modeling, ETL processes, or database design concepts
• Exposure to business process analysis or process improvement methodologies
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, automate tasks, or support analytical activities
