Engineering PTC (Positive Train Control) Internship (Paid)

CSX is a multi-modal freight transportation company operating rail and intermodal services across North America. The Engineering PTC Intern will support Positive Train Control teams by preparing regulatory submissions, analyzing performance data, researching regulations, identifying reporting trends and anomalies, and developing recurring reports.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PTC teams to prepare and organize submissions to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Assist PTC teams with compiling and analyzing PTC performance data
  • Identify trends, issues, or anomalies in PTC reporting data for management review
  • Research and summarize FRA regulations, guidance and industry standards affecting PTC
  • Collaborate with PTC teams on the development of recurring reports
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manage

Qualification

Required

  • Be a rising senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree: systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science, business administration, information technology, or law
  • Be available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program
  • Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Time management skills
  • Effective analytical, organization, prioritization, and written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python or Java
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non- standard workweek)
  • Work at elevated heights at times
  • Up to 5% Travel estimated

Preferred

  • Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)
