LexisNexis is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professionals. The Editorial Data Reporting Intern will contribute to data-driven journalism, working closely with the data team to research, analyze, and present data for publication. This internship offers hands-on experience in a collaborative newsroom environment.
Responsibilities
Research and develop at least one original, data-focused enterprise story for publication during the internship
Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, insights, and support ongoing editorial projects
Contribute to data gathering, cleaning, and interpretation from multiple sources, including public records
Collaborate with reporters and editors to integrate data into news and feature stories and shape story ideas
Support the creation of data visualizations for stories and special projects
Qualification
Required
Be a recent graduate with a bachelor's or master's degree in data journalism, communications, or a related field of study
Experience working with and incorporating data into news or feature stories (academic, internship, or personal projects)
Demonstrate the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data from diverse sources, including public records
Experience cleaning and organizing complex or messy datasets
Possess working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, and/or R
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong narrative and visual storytelling ability
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with editors and reporters
