XPO is a leading freight transportation provider that leverages advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI technologies. They are seeking a Data Science Intern to apply data science skills to real-world challenges, analyze large datasets, and develop predictive models in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
Partner closely with a dedicated mentor and collaborate with experienced data scientists across the organization
Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights
Develop and evaluate predictive models using machine learning techniques
Communicate results and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders through presentations, reports and visualizations
Work directly with cross-functional business partners to interpret results, iterate on findings and deliver impactful solutions
Gain exposure to innovative applications of AI
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing a bachelor's degree
2 or more years of relevant undergraduate coursework
Preferred
Education toward a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
Experience programming in Python and working with data-driven libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, etc.)
Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
Coursework or project experience in machine learning, predictive modeling, or statistical analysis
Exposure to modern AI techniques, including deep learning or large language models (LLMs) is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Energetic work style with a strong drive to learn and contribute
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to varied audiences
