Intuitive is a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care. The Data Engineering Intern will support the development, optimization, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure, providing hands-on experience with modern data engineering tools and practices.
Responsibilities
Assist in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines using cloud-based and open-source technologies.
Support data ingestion, transformation, and integration from various internal and external sources.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
Help monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure data quality and integrity.
Document data engineering processes and contribute to improving data architecture and best practices.
Qualification
Required
Familiarity with SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Exposure to big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or related degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship.
Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June.
Preferred
Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Prefect.
Exposure to containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
Prior internship or project experience in data engineering or related fields.
Passion for learning new technologies and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
