Fathom is one of the largest on-demand digital manufacturing platforms in North America, serving the comprehensive product development and low- to mid-volume manufacturing needs of the largest and most innovative companies in the world. They are seeking a motivated Data Analytics Intern to help design, build, and maintain an interactive Power BI/Power Apps environment for visualizing key operational and sales metrics.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards that summarize high-level “executive tiles” and allow users to click into L2 detail cards.
Build Power Apps interfaces (if needed) to facilitate ad-hoc data entry or mobile access.
Extract, transform, and load data from various sources (manufacturing ERP/MES, quoting databases, Salesforce, Excel/SharePoint, etc.).
Create and maintain clean data models (DAX, Power Query) to support performant visuals.
Collaborate with operations, quoting, and sales stakeholders to define metrics, KPIs, and data requirements.
Translate business questions (e.g., “What is our current backlog by 3D-printing technology?”) into dashboard logic.
Document data sources, ETL processes, and dashboard design decisions in a centralized knowledge repository.
Provide “how-to” guides and one-on-one coaching for end users (e.g., plant managers, quoting leads, sales directors) on navigating dashboards.

Qualification

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
Hands-on experience building Power BI reports (data modeling, DAX, custom visuals).
Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps (canvas apps, basic formula logic).
Working knowledge of SQL (for querying relational databases).
Exposure to data integration tools (Power Query, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent).
Strong analytical problem-solving—able to take a high-level KPI and break it into data requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Self-starter mindset and ability to work independently, while also collaborating cross-functionally.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and documentation.

Preferred

Basic understanding of Salesforce data structures and/or REST API usage is a plus.
Exposure to manufacturing or supply-chain analytics (ERP/MES systems, production backlog reporting).
Prior experience visualizing operational KPIs (OEE, lead time, on-time delivery).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methods or version control tools (Git, Azure DevOps).
