Manulife Investment Management is the global wealth and asset management segment of Manulife Financial Corporation. The Investment Associate will support the Fixed Income Credit Research Team by analyzing Canadian investment-grade corporate issuers and providing fundamental credit, ESG, and relative value analysis for investment decisions. The role will develop investment recommendations and communicate findings to portfolio managers.
Responsibilities
Analyze specific companies, interpret market trends and examine specified market sector activity to provide information and analysis required in the investment decision-making process. The analyst is expected to covers several industry sectors
Meet with company management and sell-side analysts to determine the short- and long-term outlook of a company and provide verbal and written reviews of investment ideas for portfolio managers. Develop and cultivate relationships to broaden knowledge of assigned companies and industries
Complete fundamental analysis, including the analysis of financial statements and rating agency reports, augmented with ESG and relative value considerations to make buy, sell, hold recommendations across sectors and issuers
Build case and assemble data points to make specific security recommendations to portfolio managers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Superior analytical skills to complete detailed fundamental and relative value analysis, with the ability to construct investment models to identify and track value added securities
Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver reviews and recommendations
Strong understanding of business and economics in order to research target companies and determine potentially profitable investment opportunities
Strong sense of judgment and self-discipline in order to evaluate multiple opportunities and make appropriate investment decisions
Highly motivated, organized team player with a strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure
Must be detail-oriented, intellectually curious, reliable, collaborative, and adaptive to changing priorities
