AmTrust Financial Services is hiring a Tax Analyst Intern to support its Corporate Tax functions, including tax compliance, information reporting, tax accounting, and process automation. The intern will assist with tax returns, data analysis, quarter-close reporting, research, and process-improvement projects while collaborating with teams across the company.
Responsibilities
Develop a working knowledge the key systems that support tax accounting and the financial reporting process
Learn to navigate and become proficient in software programs utilized by the tax department
Assist with meeting corporate tax compliance deliverables by their due dates
Learn to prepare corporate tax returns and supporting workpapers (federal income tax returns and state and local income tax returns)
Collaborate with Non-Insurance and Insurance Federal, State and Local, and International tax groups on various deliverables/due dates
Provide support for quarter close, which includes provision preparation, account reconciliations and analysis
Perform necessary research to support understanding of related tax compliance or other technical tax issues
Enhance and develop communication and critical thinking skills
Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with ongoing projects
Qualification
Required
Successful candidates possess problem solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, planning and organizational skills, manage time effectively, good verbal and communication skills in order to collaborate with various departments
Rising Senior (December 2027 or May 2028) currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Taxation. Also, Master of Accounting, or JD Major
Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.0)
Basic understanding of financial and tax accounting principles
Proven ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills
Experience with Excel
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred
4 days in office and 1 day remote out of the Cleveland, OH office
