Summer Intern/Co-op 2026 – CPA

Manulife is a leading international financial services provider, and they are seeking a Summer Intern/Co-op for 2026 in their accounting and financial reporting team. This internship provides students with hands-on experience in various financial services tasks, contributing to key business decisions and regulatory requirements while preparing for future CPA and finance careers.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting processes, including GAAP, Statutory, and IFRS deliverables.
  • Support management reporting, financial analysis, and preparation of external disclosures such as press releases and Management’s Discussion & Analysis.
  • Assist with tax provision and returns across the John Hancock complex.
  • Partner with the Controls Center of Excellence to enhance risk assessments, key controls, and governance processes.
  • Participate in internal audit activities to assess the design and effectiveness of governance, risk, and controls.
  • Engage in process improvement and automation initiatives within Wealth and Asset Management Accounting & Reporting.
  • Participate in professional development events, networking opportunities, and community volunteer activities throughout the program.

Qualification

Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance: commitment to CPA certification post-graduation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred

  • Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS, Statutory).
  • Familiarity with audit or risk management practices.
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership through campus involvement or prior roles.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across teams.
