Diamondback Energy, through Viper Energy, owns, acquires, and exploits oil and natural gas properties, focusing on mineral and royalty interests in the Permian Basin. The Finance and Investor Relations Intern will complete an individual summer project and support financial analysis, investor relations, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions activities while working with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Work on an assigned, individual Finance and Investor Relations project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback’s and Viper’s executive teams
Develop and increase knowledge of the minerals and royalties business and the oil and gas industry under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
Assist in preparing weekly and monthly deliverables for senior executives and the Board of Directors
Support preparing corporate investor relations materials, including investor presentations and press releases
Assist with the evaluation and financial modeling of merger and acquisition opportunities
Gather data from market resources and perform peer benchmarking and maintain knowledge of both debt and equity capital markets
Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and completions spread
Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting or a similar discipline
Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and high attention to detail
Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester
Preferred
Cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher
Knowledge of the upstream and/or minerals sector and the oil and gas industry as a whole
Prior oil and gas internship experience within a financial setting
Experience with leading AI platforms and/or Bloomberg
Approximately 12-week summer internship (May–August 2027)
Work directly with senior leadership and exposure to the C-suite, Board, and investor community
Assigned experienced mentor and supervision and guidance
Participation in intern events and philanthropic endeavors supporting the Midland-Odessa community
