ING Americas is part of ING’s Wholesale Banking division, offering innovative financial products and services to corporate and institutional clients. The Summer 2027 Internship in Finance provides exposure to various departments within the Finance team, focusing on financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial analysis.
Responsibilities
Empowering ING’s managers and stakeholders to plan, forecast, control, and continuously optimize financial performance, by providing timely, accurate and relevant financial information and decision support
Providing financial accounting and regulatory reporting in full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, achieving best-in-class finance ownership by efficiently and flawlessly managing operational activities
Enforcing and coordinating rigorous financial controls, bank-wide governance and reporting to establish cost transparency, proactively managing financial performance against clear targets, and instilling a cost-conscious culture across the organization
Maintaining a continuous and accurate oversight also on the correct implementation of policies, which influence the relevant financial reporting obligations of the regional businesses
Managing funding, liquidity, and capital positions across normal and stressed market conditions
Monitoring regulatory liquidity requirements, including Liquidity Coverage Ratio (“LCR”) and Net Stable Funding Ration (“NSFR”)
Managing interest rates, foreign exchange, and liquidity risks
Managing the High-Quality Liquid Asset (HQLA) portfolio
Executing interest rate hedging strategies to mitigate balance sheet risk
Advising business lines on funding, pricing, and balance sheet implications of new and existing products
Acting as a strategic finance partner to business and functional leaders, providing financial insight and challenge to support informed decision-making
Leading the consolidated Rolling Forecast (RFC) and Dynamic Plan (DP) processes, translating business ambitions into robust financial plans and targets
Delivering insightful performance reporting, variance analysis, and management information that explains key business drivers, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities
Advising senior management on financial performance, profitability, resource allocation, and key value creation metrics
Supporting the development and evaluation of strategic initiatives, business cases, and investment decisions through financial analysis and scenario modelling
Developing and monitoring financial and non-financial KPIs to measure business success and support strategic objectives
Providing consolidated cost, FTE, and productivity insights to enhance organizational effectiveness and financial discipline
Delivering ad hoc analysis and executive-level insights for senior management, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders
Identifying emerging trends and translating complex financial data into clear recommendations that support business growth, efficiency, and long-term value creation
Oversee and manage the end-to-end contracting for the procurement of goods and services from external and intracompany suppliers
Liaise with Legal, suppliers, Business Units, and other relevant stakeholders to review and execute vendor contracts
Ensure all contracts adhere to applicable external regulatory and internal requirements
Support the execution of competitive bidding process and facilitate the selection of qualified vendors
Coordinates the assessment of third-party vendors prior to engagement and throughout the duration of contractual relationships via the KYS (Know Your Supplier) process for vendor due diligence

Required

Team player who is able to work collaboratively with others
Juniors (Graduating in 2028) who are pursuing a bachelor's/master's degree in finance, economics or business-related field
Minimum GPA of 3.3 on a scale of 4.0
Good written and verbal communications skills
In-office work requirements depending on role
Preferred
Good quantitative and analytical skills and basic understanding of financial instruments is preferred though not required
Solid understanding of financial analysis/econometrics
Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Microsoft Excel, VBA, Access, SQL, SAS, and Python
