Valero is an independent refiner of transportation fuels that provides interns with professional development, mentorship, and hands-on experience. The Refinery Accounting Intern will apply accounting concepts to support refinery financial reporting, analyze results using SAP BW and other data tools, prepare expense accruals and reconciliations, and assist with related projects.
Responsibilities
Assist in the monthly operating expense close process for a refinery
Learn to utilize SAP BW and other data reporting tools to analyze financial results and provide information to various stakeholders
Assist in other projects typically focused on a detailed aspect of Valero’s financial results
Learn to format and compile data for internal metrics
Follow safety rules and procedures as set forth by the Company
Preparation of the following for refineries
Operating and Capital expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and operating expense forecast
Liaison between business services and other groups at headquarters such as Capital Assets, Forecast, Planning & Analysis, Tax, and Information Services
Interns may be assigned various different assignments at Valero Headquarters and other projects including potential travel to refinery locations
Qualification
Required
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio Headquarters required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting required
Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029 required
Able to work 40 hours for 12 weeks during Summer 2027 required
Preferred
Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred
