EMC Insurance Companies is offering a paid internship program that provides opportunities to develop industry-related knowledge and transferable skills. The intern will assist underwriters in evaluating new business and renewal submissions while gaining insights into the insurance underwriting process and EMC's business culture.
Responsibilities
Summer paid internship working in one of EMC’s regional office underwriting departments
Assists underwriters in obtaining information needed to properly evaluate new business and renewal submissions, including correspondence with agents and other outside sources
Learns EMC culture, business processes and products
Gains an understanding of the insurance underwriting process
Qualification
Required
Business major, preferably in insurance, marketing or finance
Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Analytical ability
Strong organizational skills
Sound decision-making and problem-solving
Attention to detail
Good personal computer knowledge necessary to analyze and underwrite risks
Preferred
Completion of junior year preferred
Interest in property casualty insurance career
