LPL Financial is a financial services company offering technology, brokerage, and investment advisory services. The Accounting intern will support the Controllership group by maintaining accounting records, assisting with monthly close activities, developing financial reports and models, and analyzing expenses and technology investments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for helping maintain the accounting records
Review the monthly closing process, including the preparation and/or review of journal entries and account reconciliations
Design and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and financial models
Collaborate with FP&A, Business Operations, and Technology teams on financial and operational projects
Provide support and analysis for the general and administrative expenses of LPL Investment Holdings and its subsidiaries
Assist with technology investment, software development, and AI monetization analysis
Qualification
Required
• Current sophomore or junior
• 3.0 GPA minimum
• Offer is contingent upon completion of bachelor's degree, and agreement to be local to the Fort Mill/Charlotte office
• Full - time position for 10 weeks in the summer of 2027; Monday through Friday, working 40 hours a week during business operating hours
Preferred
• All majors are considered, but programs focusing in finance or accounting are preferred
• GPA of 3.3 or higher
• Basic financial and accounting knowledge (understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, etc.)
• Leadership experience through student organizations, internships, or projects
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 platforms
• Effective communication, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills
