Index Research & Development Intern - 2026 Summer Internship

Nasdaq is a leading global financial services company, and they are seeking an Index Research & Development Intern for their 2026 Summer Internship. The intern will collaborate with the team to develop new indexes for financial products, support activities across the index product life cycle, and engage in professional development activities throughout the internship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Americas Index Research & Development team to build index strategies that will serve as benchmarks for financial products (e.g. ETFs)
  • Develop index rebalance and reconstitution models based on both internally and externally generated ideas
  • Evaluate index models & ideas through back testing and comparative analysis
  • Create client-facing analysis based on the results of back testing index strategies
  • Support activities across the index product life cycle – pitching new index ideas to clients, launching and operationalizing new indexes, and creating research content to educate stakeholders on newly launched indexes

Qualification

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred

  • Experience with financial modeling or index development
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R
  • Knowledge of financial products, particularly ETFs
