The Internal Controls Internship offers students the opportunity to support a fast-paced team that provides oversight and control across the Bank’s Global Banking and Markets business line, while gaining valuable experience and skills in governance and control enhancements.
Responsibilities
Support a fast-paced growing team that provides oversight and control across the Bank’s Global Banking and Markets business line globally
Work as part of the Global Governance team developing global solutions as well as the establishment of global standards and operating principles within Scotiabank GBM, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required
Helps build the global enhancement of voice and e-communications controls and governance within GBM and establishes best practices for supervision (roll out of global training, new detection technology, coordination of global reviews of lexicons/scenarios/eligible employees for surveillance) while seeking input from multiple stakeholders
Foster an environment of collaboration and best practices with other subject matter experts within GBM
Support a fast growing team that aims to serve the GBM business by identifying risks and opportunities for control enhancements
Performs analysis to identify and address patterns, themes, or trends that indicate potential weaknesses or gaps in the execution of business line controls and procedures
Assists in identifying and addressing underlying causes of control breakdowns or instances where controls are inadequate
Review policies, procedures and support walkthroughs to identify key controls, document processes and report findings and issues identified
Qualification
Required
You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education
You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future

You are articulate, have excellent presentation and communication skills and are eager to learn
You are a quick learner and self starter who is not shy to hit the ground running and ask questions to help you learn and grow
