Finance Co-op Intern

CIBC is building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world, seeking passionate professionals to join their Finance Student Program. The role offers valuable work experience to complement academic training, allowing interns to engage with executives and learn about the financial industry while being mentored by experienced team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage timely and accurate month-end production including review of detailed monthly and quarterly consolidated analysis to support data integrity for use by senior management/executive team
  • Respond to ad hoc financial information and analysis requests from senior management and/or various business unit stakeholders
  • Analyze and interpret LOBs results as well as provide strategic/value-added insight and for identifying any issues that should be brought forth to senior level management
  • Work on ad hoc projects and analysis as required, to be presented in a well-organized, professional manner to Senior Executives
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Participate and/or lead Centralization, Rationalization, Standardization and Optimization efforts as required
  • Communicate partner needs, system requirements and data integrity issues to both direct reports and senior management in a timely manner to ensure responsive, high quality reporting

Qualification

Required

  • You must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education to be eligible, however, you do not need to be in a registered Co-Op program to be considered for this role
  • You are a university student pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • You have a strong knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI
  • You possess data analytical skills in Python, Tableau, Alteryx or Thought spot, Excel, Power BI
  • Problem Solving – You are a keen problem solver and a self-starter, you are able to apply your academic knowledge to develop solutions to support the development and enhancement of processes
  • Analytical – You are analytical, able to draw insights and conclusions from qualitative data, applying structure to complicated concepts
  • Strong Communications – You have well developed interpersonal skills. You are able to take complex concepts and present them in easy to understand written and graphical formats, utilizing spreadsheets, presentation software and web tools. You present your insights, translating them into meaningful observations for varying audience types. You have strong verbal and presentation skills
  • Adaptive – You are able to work independently with guidance from management and also in a dynamic team environment
  • Cross Collaboration – You engage with team members and business partners to achieve common goals. You are able to work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and develop a deeper understanding of the bank's processes

Preferred

  • Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Analytics, Math, Computer Science major preferred, but not required
  • You major in Finance, Business or other applicable disciplines
