Wärtsilä is an innovative technology company known for being a forerunner in the Marine and Energy markets. They are seeking a Summer Intern to join their Finance & Accounting Department in Houston, where the intern will support a wide range of accounting matters and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with monthly closing and quarterly tasks, gain understanding of Financial Statements, and support presentations for monthly management meetings
Support corporate governance, regulatory compliance, business license filings, and corporate credit cards management
Help with accounts payable and receivable inquiries and assisting with audits as needed
Help with maintaining records, filing documents, and ensuring compliance with company policies
Participate in meetings with Finance and Tax advisors and external partners as needed
Perform any other Finance tasks and administrative duties as assigned
Participate in company volunteer and community service events
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. business school, pursuing a Finance, Accounting, or Business degree, preferably as a rising sophomore or junior
Preferred
Strong interest in accounting & finance
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (fluency in Spanish is a plus)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Prior internship or relevant experience in an accounting environment is a plus but not required
