Emera Inc. is hiring for the position of Co-op Corporate Accounting for the Summer term with their Corporate Accounting team. This role will provide students with exposure to corporate financial processes and responsibilities such as full-cycle accounting duties and intercompany billings.
Responsibilities
Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including journal entries and monthly bank/account reconciliations
Preparation of Stats Canada surveys and other filing requirements
Prepare monthly intercompany billings, categorize charges for tax reporting, and complete related variance analysis
Preparation of Canadian corporate HST tax returns
Assist with monthly HST return filings for multiple corporate entities
Assistance with other adhoc requests from Corporate Accounting and other finance departments
Qualification
Required
Proactive, detail-oriented student in 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and analytical skills
Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks across teams and deadlines
A strong work ethic, analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SharePoint
A sharp eye for detail and a passion for learning
Preferred
Prior accounting experience considered an asset but not a requirement
Previous accounting or tax experience (an asset, but not required)
