ORION is seeking an Accounting Intern to support corporate accounting functions. The intern will perform entry-level accounting tasks, assist with various accounting initiatives, and maintain effective working relationships within the company.
Responsibilities
Assists accounting department with accounting initiatives and programs
Works closely with different departments to provide accounting and project support in a variety of areas
Maintains high degree of organization skills and problem-solving ability; specifically, the ability to work as a self-starter
Prioritizes to achieve desired company and project goals with prudence and sense of urgency
Exhibits excellent telephone etiquette, communication, verbal and written skills

Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety
Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with

Qualification
Required
Individual in this position must be enrolled in college or university and work experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position
Major course of study may be in of the following areas: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or relative field of study
Individual must have computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Must be able to word process at least 60 WPM
The position also requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization
The incumbent must be well organized and a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Must be flexible and able to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities and prioritize work to accommodate those changes
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel
Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise
