Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach is seeking an Accounting Intern to support their Finance and Accounting team. This role involves assisting with daily operational tasks, contributing to accurate financial recordkeeping, and ensuring departmental efficiency.
Responsibilities
Perform general office and administrative duties, including opening mail, filing, scanning, data entry and preparing journal entries
Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and Expense Reimbursement (ER) processing
Ensure invoices and expenses are properly coded and clearly described to support accurate accounting records, timely payments, and effective monthly reporting
Learn core AP functions including invoice entry, expense coding, approval workflow, and accounting treatment for various activities, with hands on exposure to the Bank’s AP systems
Support department team members with additional tasks and projects as assigned
Follow all current departmental policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent GED required
Basic computer literacy with foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive tasks
Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with office and computer-based work
Ability to sit and or stand for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
Ability to lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to use hands and fingers to manage, manipulate, or feel objects and operate standard office equipment
Preferred
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
