Freeport-McMoRan is an international metals company offering a paid hybrid internship for students and recent graduates. The Accounting Intern will perform accounting and financial activities, assist with financial analysis and reporting, review financial requirements, and support accounting process enhancements under close supervision.
Responsibilities
Assembling interrelated financial statements, reviewing, and verifying the recording of expenditures, entries and postings to general ledgers, verifying books and bank statement reconciliation, monitoring and developing monthly reports of revenues and expenditures for projects and meeting mandatory scheduled deadlines
Assisting operations personnel and cost coordinators with financial analysis and reporting
Reviewing and interpreting financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations
Assisting in analyzing financial operations and recommending enhancements to policies or procedures Assisting with reviews and recommendations of new or enhanced automated financial statements
Perform other duties as required
Qualification
Required
* Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor's or higher, in Accounting/Finance or closely related field; OR
* Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor's or higher, in Accounting/Finance or closely related field
* Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
* Highly accurate and detail oriented
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure
* Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
* Ability to understand, apply and communicate verbal and written work and safety-related instructions, procedures, job assignments and applicable safety standards in English
* Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear, and see
* Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workday
Preferred
These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August.
Our hybrid internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person regularly at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or our site locations.
Interns living more than 50 miles away would be required to relocate and would be eligible for travel and housing assistance.
