The Risk Management Summer Analyst will gain hands-on experience identifying, assessing, monitoring, reporting, managing, and mitigating risk while working with Americas Risk Management teams and business lines. The role also includes rotating through risk activities, participating in cross-functional projects, and learning how MUFG’s risk framework supports the bank’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Interact with colleagues within Americas Risk Management and the Lines of Business and Products Owners while rotating through activities in their assigned area of a given risk discipline
Learn the components of the MUFG Risk Framework and how it is implemented within the Bank to effectively assess, monitor, and control risk
Work on cross functional projects to gain insights into how the various risk frameworks intersect and support the overall management of risk at the Bank and support the strategic goals of MUFG
The reporting around risk of loss and reduction in capital, and weakened financial resiliency, arising from borrowers or counterparties not paying as agreed on loans or other contractual agreements
The risk that the enterprise will not have, or may simply be perceived as not having, enough cash, liquid assets, or fulfill liabilities to fund loans, pay operating expenses, or other contractual obligations as they come due
The risk that focuses on assessing how changes in market interest rates may affect the bank’s earnings and financial position
The risk from events which may have an adverse effect on current projected financial condition and resilience arising from inadequate or failed internal processes or systems, human error or misconduct, or adverse external events
Risks resulting from Strategic events. Additionally, encompassing Risk Governance functions such as risk appetite and risk reporting, etc
The use of any Models invariably presents Model Risk, which is the potential for adverse consequences (e.g., financial loss, poor business and strategic decision-making, or damage to an organization’s brand) from decisions based on incorrect or misused Model outputs and reports
Your assigned mentor/manager will provide goals and professional development guidance and conduct performance reviews as a commitment to our summer Analysts

Qualification
Required
Graduating between December 2027 and Spring 2028
3.0 GPA or higher
Strong interest in Banking/Financial Services/Risk Management
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Marketing or a related field
Coursework in microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, business, or previous internship experience in the financial industry
Microsoft Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Process oriented with strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills
Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate execution in demanding situations
Clearly evidenced client service, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills
Ability to grasp concepts quickly and independently; interpret data, draw conclusions, and present findings effectively
Adapts well to changing priorities; learns new tasks and activities quickly
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. MUFG will not hire individuals for internships whose work eligibility is based on their F-1 or other limited student visa status
Preferred
Experience with Tableau, SQL, Python, Microsoft Power BI, Infopath, and/or Sharepoint
Previous internships, volunteer, professional or academic club experiences
Knowledge of banking systems and practices, market factor or regulatory environment is a big plus
Experience in client servicing and requirements identification
Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel proficiency
Work remotely one day per week and work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week.
Hands-on experience and business exposure through the 10-week Summer Analyst Program.
Instructors and mentors who serve interns throughout the program.
Learning sessions led by Americas Risk Management professionals across the bank’s Risk Disciplines.
An assigned mentor/manager who provides goals and professional development guidance and conducts performance reviews.

At the end of the program, the opportunity exists to receive an offer for full-time employment upon graduation.
Based on performance during the assignment, a percentage of the intern cohort will be placed in a three-year rotation program; other offers may be considered for a role in the area where they completed their internship.
