Cisco is a leading technology company focused on revolutionizing data and infrastructure connectivity in the AI era. They are seeking a Backend/Fullstack Software Engineer II (Intern) to contribute to the development of security and observability products, working on projects involving machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, code and test software systems, or applications within the scope of a contained, end-to-end project.
Contribute through participation in agile development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing, and ongoing support of systems.
Work under the close supervision of a mentor with weekly check-ins.
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a certification program (e.g., Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College) or in an undergraduate degree program with 2 years of relevant experience), or currently enrolled in a graduate degree program with 0 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: such as C++, Go, or Python with evidence of recent (within the past 12 months) coursework, projects, or work experience.
At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks
Experience in QA, testing, and/or debugging
Preferred
Coursework and project experience related to Machine Learning and AI concepts
Exposure to docker, Kubernetes, GIT or public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
Exposure to working with REST APIs
Understanding of distributed systems and system design concepts
Familiarity with test-driven development, writing various levels of automated tests, such as unit test, functional test, integration test, system test, or performance / load test
Experience in QA, testing, and/or debugging
Experience collaborating and problem solving with others in a fast-paced environment
Able to learn new technologies quickly
Strong communication skills, verbal and written
