They are seeking a Backend/Fullstack Software Engineer II (Intern) to contribute to the development of security and observability products, working on projects involving machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code and test software systems, or applications within the scope of a contained, end-to-end project.
  • Contribute through participation in agile development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing, and ongoing support of systems.
  • Work under the close supervision of a mentor with weekly check-ins.

Qualification

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a certification program (e.g., Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College) or in an undergraduate degree program with 2 years of relevant experience), or currently enrolled in a graduate degree program with 0 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field, and a strong record of academic achievement
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: such as C++, Go, or Python with evidence of recent (within the past 12 months) coursework, projects, or work experience.
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks
  • Experience in QA, testing, and/or debugging

Preferred

  • Coursework and project experience related to Machine Learning and AI concepts
  • Exposure to docker, Kubernetes, GIT or public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Exposure to working with REST APIs
  • Understanding of distributed systems and system design concepts
  • Familiarity with test-driven development, writing various levels of automated tests, such as unit test, functional test, integration test, system test, or performance / load test
  • Experience in QA, testing, and/or debugging
  • Experience collaborating and problem solving with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to learn new technologies quickly
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
