2027 Returning Intern Software Engineer

Northrop Grumman is a leader in technology and innovation, seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join their Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. The intern will work in a dynamic environment, gaining experience in various engineering specializations and collaborating with users, customers, and developers.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems
  • Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
  • Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed
  • Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions

Qualification

Required

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND will be enrolled full time in Fall 2026
  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • Final approved interim Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start

Preferred

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher
  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
  • Good presentation and writing/communication skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups
  • Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects
  • Experience in working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch
