McCormick & Company is a global leader in flavor, and they are seeking a Product Development Intern for a 10-week summer program. The intern will assist with flavor customer support activities, collaborate with technical teams, and maintain a safe laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily flavor customer support activities including sample preparation, sample evaluation/tasting, data gathering, and sending out shipments.
Work directly with internal beverage and/or food technical team providing hands-on assistance and project guidance.
Collaborate with other scientists and technologists to deliver ad hoc project results in a timely manner.
Projects might include flavor application, prototype formulation, base improvement, bench testing and competitive benchmarking.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly lab, including cleaning equipment, organizing supplies, and following all safety protocols.
Qualification
Required
Current enrollment as an undergraduate college Junior student in a relevant academic program.
Relevant Academic programs include Food Science, Chemistry, Culinary Science, Nutrition Science or other science.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is required.
Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
Demonstrated organization and planning skills, handling details.
Preferred
Experience working in a laboratory or kitchen environment preferred.
Ability to perform data analysis preferred as well as basic beverage formulation and scale-up calculations, preferred.
Prior exposure to and/or familiarity with food science concepts preferred.
