El Paso Electric Company is a regional energy provider that serves approximately 460,000 customers. The intern will support the Executive Learning & Efficiency Program by creating learning materials and assisting with advanced analytics projects, focusing on AI and digital productivity tools.
Assisting in data preparation, visualization, and dashboard development
Supporting predictive algorithm design and integration with BI platforms
Participating in AI enablement activities, including prompt engineering and generative AI use cases
Collaborating on ongoing projects such as AMI analytics and solar generation modeling
The intern will gain exposure to enterprise-level analytics workflows through structured phases of training, shadowing, and guided project work
Complete onboarding and training on enterprise analytics tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Oracle Fusion)
Understand the team’s BI enablement roadmap and Datawatts program
Gain proficiency in integrating Python with Power BI for predictive modeling
Learn to build dashboards and automate workflows for analytics reporting
Assist in AMI use case development and solar generation modeling
Support AI enablement initiatives, including prompt engineering and generative AI solutions
Participate in team meetings and shadow senior analysts
Document processes and share insights during lunch-and-learn sessions
Deliver a final project (e.g., predictive model or dashboard) addressing a real business need
Present findings to the team and mentor for feedback
Qualification
Required
Enrolled as a full-time student in a recognized college or university, majoring in Business, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science OR in non-related fields with a demonstrated interest in and proficiency with data
Enrolled as a Full-Time Student (Undergraduate – 12 hours, Graduate – 9 hours) and have completed at least two (2) semesters at an accredited college, or university in the United States
Must be classified as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student
Must have an overall minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 or above
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public
Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters
