Johnson & Johnson develops medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and consumer packaged goods. They are seeking an Intern for Translational Data Engineering and Solutions to support operations of Janssen R&D Data Science and implement innovative solutions for handling large datasets.

- Design and implement platform components that are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, diagnosable, and actively monitored.
- Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and database technologies
- Perform programming tasks to support in-house data tools, platforms, pipelines, and workflows.
- Produce clean, efficient, and well-documented code based on specifications.
Qualification
Required
- Be currently pursuing a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, or related degrees
- Possess a strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related field as demonstrated by current or prior coursework
- Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills (technical and/or business)
- Proficiency in Python or R programming language.
- Can work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
- Be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Candidates must be available to work full-time during the internship.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1-B status) now or in the future.
Preferred
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, and database schema/structure design.
- Coursework or background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, and other life sciences
- A working knowledge of web application design and programming
- Experience with relevant disease biology in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, or infectious disease
- A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
