Bio-Rad Laboratories has played a leading role in the advancement of scientific discovery for over 50 years. The Intern will support the Life Science Group by aiding in the development of Internal pipelines and software tools to enhance data management and analysis for the R&D team.
Working under the supervision of experienced software and data science engineers design, implement, and validate custom code for core team needs.
Document your work effectively and maintain high standards of data fidelity, security, and storage.
Utilize best practices and data driven approaches to make effective decisions relating to code design and execution.
Effectively communicate data, findings, and code to the internal team as well as appropriate general audiences.
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled as a sophomore/junior university student pursuing a degree related to Computer Science with a strong understanding of basic molecular biology.
Must have a 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (4.0 scale).
Demonstrated understanding of PCR.
Ability to work for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks.
Proficiency with Python, AWS, and GitHub.
Strong ability to work in a fast paced team setting.
Strong problem solving and statistical skillset (t-test, ANOVA, Pearson, Chi Squared tests) are required.
Good organization and communication skills are required.
Preferred
Experience with qPCR and/or ddPCR is preferred but not required.
Experience working with laboratory automation is a plus – Hamilton Star instruments specifically.
