CIBC is a relationship-oriented bank focused on delivering innovative financial solutions for clients across North America and global financial centers. The Data Science Student Analyst will support Global Transaction Banking by strengthening data and analytics capabilities, improving data processes, and developing scalable data science and artificial intelligence use cases. The role will also contribute to strategic planning, product optimization, stakeholder collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.
Data Strategy & Innovation – You will assist in supporting GTB's data and AI strategy to accelerate the translation of data and AI technologies into business values. This includes contributing to frameworks to organize and integrate GTB data, supporting the modernization of data infrastructure and processes, and helping to define capability roadmaps for deploying scalable data science and AI solutions. In doing so, you will apply data science and AI across GTB domains such as treasury and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payment ecosystems (including domestic and cross-border payment rails such as SWIFT, ACF/EFT, and real-time payments), transaction and deposit patterning, financing optimization, and operate with an awareness of relevant regulatory considerations such as AML, KYC, and FINTRAC requirements
Strategic Business Planning & Management – You will support the execution of GTB's strategy by contributing to the alignment of data science and AI initiatives to business objectives and performance targets. You will assist in providing actionable insights through analysis of portfolio performance, pricing and net interest margin (NIM) trends, liquidity metrics, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making. This may include supporting analytics related to rates and NIM performance, portfolio profitability, capital consumption, and Client-level activity across regions, industries, and segments
Product & Process Optimization – You will assist in identifying practical opportunities to improve product performance, pricing effectiveness, and overall Client value propositions. This includes supporting the streamlining and automation of reporting, and contributing to analytics that support pricing, rates, NIM, liquidity analysis, and other GTB use cases, while driving continuous improvement across data and processes. You will also help enable more proactive insights through automation and AI, such as improved ad hoc reporting and monitoring of Client activities and market events (e.g., asset divestitures, bond issuance, M&A activities)
Relationship Management & Collaboration – You will support strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across Sales, Treasury, Product, Risk, and Technology teams. You will effectively and efficiently communicate analytical findings, collaborate to understand business challenges, and contribute to alignment across teams to successfully deliver data-driven initiatives
Learning & Development – You will embrace a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective problem-solving. You will actively seek guidance and mentorship to develop your skills, and contribute meaningfully to the Data Science team's initiatives in alignment with GTB's overall objectives
