GeoComply provides fraud prevention and advanced geolocation solutions to detect location fraud and help verify a user's true digital identity. As a Data Scientist Intern, you will develop and implement machine learning models to combat location spoofing while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the effectiveness of fraud detection initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced machine learning models to detect location spoofing patterns within large datasets.
  • Conduct rigorous statistical analysis to identify anomalies and trends indicative of fraudulent activity.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of different ML/AI algorithms.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with engineer managers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to refine requirements, integrate the model into the ML platform, and make a measurable impact.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the team through clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Other Tasks as Assigned: Flexibility is key in a dynamic environment; you’ll help on various projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualification

Required

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a PhD (or Master’s to PhD track) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field of study.
  • You have knowledge of or experience with Python (especially libraries like scikit-learn, pandas, and numpy), SQL, PySpark, machine learning algorithms, and statistical modeling.
  • Whether written or verbal, people know what you mean, what you are asking for, and what is expected.
  • You have an eye for detail and have the ability to interpret data into simple, intuitive information.
  • You have a keen eye for the little things and are comfortable working with granular details.
  • You have excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • You maintain high integrity and confidentiality of sensitive, complex information.
  • You are comfortable working through new problems for the first time that may not have an obvious or precise answer.
  • Your great attitude makes you approachable and engaging, and you demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • You can observe information and produce high-quality insights.
  • You’re capable of assessing issues and initiating actions without waiting.
  • You can independently assess issues and take action.
  • You strive to achieve for the top in everything you do.

Preferred

  • Publications or research experience in fraud detection or anomaly detection.
  • Experience working in fraud detection.
